Suspect arrested on suspicion of murdering his mother in Fresno in May
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his mother in Fresno this spring, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Jose Juan Mata, 26, was arrested for the killing of 54-year-old Maria Alcocer Elias.
Elias was found dead May 20 when officers were called to a home in the 500 block of East Britten Avenue in Fresno. Family members who had stop by to visit Elias had found her unconscious and with injuries. She was declared dead at the scene. The cause of death was due to the trauma from her injuries.
Homicide detectives collected evidence and spoke with neighbors and identifeid Mata as the primary suspect.
