Hanford police: Grandpa confronts man in sexual assault of granddaughter

Hanford police are asking for help apprehending a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl — the daughter of his girlfriend.

He was identified as Juan Angel Covarrubias, 26.

A police spokesman said that on June 28, the grandfather of the victim confronted Covarrubias as the incident was taking place, and Covarrubias fled.

An investigation determined additional assaults had taken place before, the spokesman added.

Covarrubias is 5-foot-10 and 230 pounds, and has “Covarrubias” tattooed on his right forearm and “KC” with a crown on the top of one hand.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police at 559-585-4724.
