Fatal shooting in Huron investigated by Fresno County detectives

Homicide detectives with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office on Friday investigated a fatal shooting in Huron.

The victim, identified as 40-year-old Leonel Avalos of Huron, was shot and died Thursday night outside a home in the 16000 block of 6th Street, sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said.

Huron police responded to the shooting, but turned over the investigation to sheriff’s detectives.

It’s the third homicide in Huron this year, Botti said.

Detectives are asking community members for help with the investigation. Call Detective Gary Haslam at 559-600-8209 or Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867.
