Fresno man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after beating mom, deputies say

A Fresno man who allegedly beat his mother with a TV stand has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Aries Apodaca, 27, was arrested by deputies with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office after a disturbance at a home near the corner of East Shields and North Chestnut avenues in Fresno around 6 p.m. Monday.

According to a news release sent Wednesday by the sheriff’s office, deputies found a 52-year-old woman with injuries to her head and body. She told them her son had come home intoxicated and they got into an argument. She said Apodaca picked up a piece of a TV stand and struck her with it.

The woman told deputies she tried to run out of the home, but Apodaca pulled her back inside and continued to beat her with the TV stand until it broke.

Neighbors came to her aid and called 911.

Apodaca was taken to Fresno County Jail; bail was set at $500,000.

The woman was transported to Community Regional Medical Center and is recovering, the sheriff’s office said.

Witnesses with more information about Apodaca can contact the sheriff’s office at 559-600-3111 or Valley Crime Stoppers 559-498-7867 or www.valleycrimestoppers.org.
