Woman found killed in her Fresno home identified. Homicide detectives seeking info

Fresno County Sheriff’s detectives Thursday continued to investigate the death of a 54-year-old woman whom they suspect was murdered inside her home south of Fresno.

Maria Alcocer Elias was found unconscious inside her home in the 500 block of East Britten Avenue, near Cherry and Central avenues, by family members arriving to visit her around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, the sheriff’s department said Thursday in a news release.

She had visible injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

“Due to trauma she had suffered, EMS requested Fresno County Sheriff’s deputies respond to the home. It was determined her death was a homicide, so detectives and members of our Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene,” department spokesman Tony Botti said in the news release.

No arrests have been made.

Homicide detectives would like to talk with anyone who knew Alias or recently spoke with her in order to gain a better understanding of any issues she may have been dealing with or if she was having problems with anyone. Call detective Ben Gonzalez at 559-600-8206.
