Man found shot to death in car near Abby and Belmont in central Fresno

Fresno police are investigating the death of a man who was found shot to death inside a car near railroad tracks Thursday morning close to North Abby Street and Belmont Avenue.

The victim appeared to have died from the gunshot wound to his upper body, said Capt. Mindy Casto, the commander of the department’s Central District.

Officers were called to the homicide scene near East White Avenue and North Clark Street, where the victim was found. Casto said that detectives were canvassing the area looking for witnesses and video surveillance.

The victim was not identified at the scene as detectives attempted to find out more about him, as well as the time of the shooting.
