Man fatally stabbed in Fresno alleyway. Police seeking clues to find killers
A man was fatally stabbed Tuesday night behind an apartment complex in central Fresno, police said.
Calls arrived around 8:40 p.m. of numerous people involved in a fight in the alleyway behind an apartment complex near Glenn and Belmont avenues, just south of Highway 180.
When officers and paramedics arrived, they found one man stabbed numerous times in the upper torso, according to Lt. Tim Tietjen.
The man was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died. He was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Myron Reed, 39, of Fresno. Coroner’s spokesman Tony Botti said Reed was believed to be homeless since he used Poverello House as his address.
Detectives determined that Reed was stabbed and violently assaulted by multiple subjects who left him in the alley, police spokesman Sgt. Jeff La Blue said Wednesday.
La Blue said a motive for the attack is not known. Detectives ask anyone with information about the case to contact Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP or detectives at 559-621-2452 or 559-621-2421.
This is the 10th murder this year compared to 15 at this time in 2019.
