Truck full of minors overturns in Tulare County after teens allegedly dump owner in foothills

A truck full of minors, who are now accused of carjacking, overturned on a rural Tulare County road Saturday following a law enforcement pursuit.

Authorities were searching for the white pickup after a group of teenagers allegedly plotted to steal it from the owner, a 19-year-old Exeter man, on Friday after meeting up in Farmersville.

The truck had been driven to an area near Badger, in the Tulare County foothills, after the teens asked the man if he wanted to hang out. But the truck’s owner was eventually ordered out of the truck at gunpoint, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said. A sawed-off shotgun was used..

The man was left on the side of the road as the teenagers drove off in the truck, the sheriff’s office added.

Police spotted the struck a day later and saw the teens jump in and drive off before officers started to follow. The driver of the truck did not stop, and the truck eventually overturned with four teens inside.

They all ran, but police caught up to them. The teens, who were also booked on charges of conspiracy and possession of a loaded firearm, were booked at the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility.
