Homicide investigation underway after woman found dead in Tulare County home

Tulare County sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday formally launched a homicide investigation, a day after a woman was found dead inside her Porterville home.

Reyna Castillo, 37, was found unresponsive at her home on the 400 block of East Westfield Avenue on Monday. Deputies who responded to her home initially believed her death was suspicious.

No arrests have been reported.

An autopsy later confirmed the woman was a homicide victim, authorities said Tuesday.

Deputies have not said how they believe the woman was killed or commented on any possible suspects or motives for the slaying.

Investigators worked through the night to process evidence and interview witnesses, the sheriff’s office said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit, 559-802-9563 or 800-808-0488.
