The sentencing for a Tulare County man who prompted a manhunt after shooting his wife and setting off an eight-hour standoff is scheduled for February.

Randy Scroggins, 44, faces 77 years-to-life in prison, according to the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office.

In May, Scroggins fled to a nearby orchard after shooting his wife in the shoulder. In June, following an eight-hour standoff in Farmersville, Scroggins surrendered to Tulare County Sheriff’s Office deputies

A jury on Friday found Scroggins guilty of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, domestic violence and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, according to a news release sent by the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office on Monday afternoon.

The conviction was Scroggins’ third strike under California’s “Three Strikes” law, according to the DA’s office.

Scroggins’ prior strikes stem from a 2002 conviction for criminal treats and a 2004 conviction for criminal threats and dissuading a witness, according to the news release.
