A gun battle erupted outside of a house in central Fresno on Saturday night, where a man was shot and taken to the hospital, according to Fresno police Lt. Steve Card.

A man in his late 40s was shot several times in his pelvis area and taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he is in stable condition.

Card said the man and others were outside of a home on Pontiac Way near Marks Avenue when a vehicle drove up. It isn’t clear who shot first, but both groups allegedly shot at each other. Card did not give a description of the vehicle, but said it drove away.

At least one car in the neighborhood was hit, and police found shell casings on the road and outside the house.

It is not known at this time if the shooting is gang related, Card said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 559-498-7867.
