Clovis Unified investigates new threat on Monday. Here’s the latest from the schools

Another unfounded threat of violence hit a Clovis school on Monday, triggering a message to parents.

A student at Clovis West High School made a verbal threat to cause harm on campus, according to a recorded message from Principal Eric Swain that was sent to parents.

Swain said the threat was found to be not credible.

“We take any such talk seriously,” he said in the message. “We immediately identified the student and notified law enforcement.”

Swain said the school would pursue any necessary disciplinary and legal action.

Swain asked residents to report any threats of violence made towards schools so they can be investigated by authorities.

Earlier in the day, Clovis East High and Reyburn Intermediate schools Principal Stephanie Hanks said false threats on social media from Friday had continued to circulate Monday. She said the threats have been investigated and determined to be not credible by the Clovis Police Department.

“We take the security and safety of our campus seriously and work closely with our police departments when these situations arise,” she said in a news release. “School continues to be open and we will remain vigilant as our students come to campus and prepare for a busy week of finals.”
