Porterville man killed in solo vehicle crash on SR 190 in Tulare County
A Porterville man was killed and two others injured in a solo vehicle crash Sunday in Tulare County, the California Highway Patrol says.
The crash was reported at 5:25 a.m. Sunday on State Route 190 and Westwood Street. Emergency medical service and CHP officers responded to the scene.
According to the CHP, the driver of a 1999 Honda Accord, a 29-year-old man from Porterville, was traveling south on Westwood Street, north of State Route 190, at an unknown speed.
For unknown reason, the driver failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Westwood Street and SR 190, crashing head-on into a concrete K-rail within a highway construction zone, CHP said.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two passengers, a 24-year-old man and a 19-year-old man both from Porterville, were seriously injured and taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia.
According to the CHP, alcohol and/or drugs are suspected to be a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
The identities of the driver and passengers were not been released as of Thursday.
