The coroner has identified two sisters killed in a solo vehicle crash last week just west of Fresno.

Piedra was a student at Justin Garza High School.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. Oct. 28 on Belmont Avenue west of Brawley Avenue.

The driver, Nino, failed to stop for the sign at Brawley. Then, the car turned abruptly and left the road, hitting a power pole, multiple trees, fencing, and a parked vehicle before ending up in a trucking yard nearby, the CHP said.

Nino died at the scene, the CHP said. Two passengers, Piedra and a 27-year-old man, were seriously injured and taken to a hospital. Piedra later died.

The man remains hospitalized, according to the CHP.
