Police on Monday identified the 44-year-old man stabbed to death Friday outside a Carl’s Jr. on Blackstone Avnyue as Manuel Lopez.

Officers responded to the stabbing at 8:11 p.m. at Blackstone and Griffith avenues, Fresno police Lt. Michael Pierce said.

Officers arrived and located the man with several stab wounds. Officers administered first aid until EMS arrived and took the man to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Pierce said.

Officers were looking for a man believed to be responsible in the stabbing and arrested 43-year-old Ashton Dejean nearby.

Dejean was booked into the Fresno County jail on suspicion of resisting arrest and murder.

The motive for the stabbing is unknown.
