1 killed in crash on Belmont Ave. west of Fresno. Driver failed to stop, CHP says

A man was killed Tuesday in a crash on Belmont Avenue in Fresno County near the city of Kerman.

The CHP respsonded to the collision at Goldrenrod and Belmont avenues around 5 p.m. and found two vehicles in a field northwest of the intersection.

A driver in one of the vehicles was unresponsive and taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead.

The man’s age and identity were not released.

According to a preliminary investigation by the CHP, the driver was going north on Goldenrod and ran a stop sign at Belmont, which put his car in the line of oncoming traffic.

It was hit by a truck on the passenger side.

The driver of the other vehicle, a Toyota Tundra per CHP, suffered minor injuries.

It does not appear that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision, the CHP said in a report on Wednesday. The incident remains under investigation.
