A 45-year-old man died Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Fresno County.

The fatal crash was reported at 1:15 p.m. on North Avenue at Temperance Avenue, where a vehicle and a semitractor-trailer collided.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Hyundai Elantra was traveling west on North approaching the intersection with Temperance. The intersection is controlled only for eastbound and westbound traffic; northbound traffic is not controlled, CHP said.

A freightliner semitractor-trailer was traveling east on North toward the intersection when the driver of the Hyundai made a left turn directly into the path of the semi.

The collision forced both vehicles southeast into an orange orchard at the corner of the intersection.

The man in the Hyundai was pronounced dead. He was identified Tuesday as Diego Gutierrez Mogollan of Sanger.

The driver of the Freightliner was not injured.

Alcohol and/or drugs are not considered to be a factor, and the investigation is ongoing.
