Pedestrian killed by BNSF train in Fresno near McKinley Avenue, according to police

A pedestrian died Saturday morning after he was struck by a train in Fresno.

Authorities said the collision happened at 5:40 a.m. near Blackstone and McKinley avenues when a BNSF train was going southbound and struck the pedestrian.

Officers performed CPR on the pedestrian, who was taken to the hospital but died on the way, Fresno Police said.

BNSF is handling the investigation, and said it does not appear the collision happened at a designated crossing.

The age and name of the victim has not yet been released.
