Update: Pedestrian killed on Blackstone Avenue in Fresno ID’d by coroner

A pedestrian died Saturday night after getting hit by a vehicle on Blackstone Avenue in Fresno.

Officers responded to the single-vehicle collision at 11:15 p.m. at Blackstone and Swift avenues.

Officers found the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead. He was identified Monday by the coroner as William Haywood, 60, of Fresno.

The driver remained on scene and cooperated with officers. Police said alcohol or drugs were not a factor.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Police at the scene said the victim was a member of the unhoused community.
