Update: 21-year-old pedestrian killed in Fresno after being run over by two cars ID’d

A pedestrian was killed early Friday when he was run over by two vehicles in Fresno.

Officers responded to the crash scene at 3:45 a.m. at Herndon Avenue east of Brawley after a caller said they saw two vehicles running over the pedestrian. Officers found the man, who was pronounced dead. The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the man was 21-year-old Jesse Perez of Fresno.

Police said the driver in vehicle No. 1 was traveling west on Herndon when he heard something hit his car and pulled over. He drove back and saw Perez on the road. Vehicle No. 2 saw vehicle No. 1 with flashers on and continued driving west on Herndon but unable to stop in time and struck the victim also.

Detectives are investigating the cause of the collision. The drivers of both involved vehicles remained on scene and were cooperating with officers.

Police said they show no signs of impairment.
