Fresno County Sheriff's Office

One person was killed and another was injured Monday morning after a fire broke inside a shed in Fresno County.

Fresno County Fire and deputies with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office responded at 5 a.m. to the 13000 block of S. Quince Avenue in Caruthers. A man and a woman were inside the shed when the fire broke out.

The man had burns and the woman was pronounced dead, deputies said.

Firefighters are investigating the cause of the blaze.

Later, the Sheriff’s Office developed new information saying the injuries and death are questionable, spokesperson Tony Botti said. Detectives are now assisting firefighters with the investigation.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified the victim as 36-year-old Samantha Dellia and reported that the 44-year-old man injured remained hospitalized in critical condition.
