Update: 30-year-old pedestrian ID’d by coroner after being struck by car in Fresno

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Fresno on Thursday night.

Police said the collision happened at 7:32 p.m. at Hughes and Michigan avenues, south of Shields Avenue.

According to police, a vehicle was traveling south when the driver struck a man who was in the roadway.

He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center with serious injuries but later died. He was identified by the coroner as 30-year-old Stevie Esqueda of Fresno.

The driver remained on scene and was cooperative. Alcohol or drugs were not suspected, police said.
