Four people were taken to the hospital New Year’s Eve for an overdose in Fresno.

Fresno Police Lt. Leslie Williams said officers responded to the home in the 2800 block of E. Norwich Avenue to check the welfare of the unconscious people just after 4:37 p.m..

Officers arrived and found two men and two women at the location who needed medical care, Williams said.

Officers and EMS personnel provided medical aid at the scene and took them to Community Regional Medical Center and St. Agnes.

Williams said officers and detectives found evidence of narcotics use. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the overdoses.

It was initially unclear if the subjects overdosed or were exposed to carbon monoxide as the Fresno Fire Department responded to make sure the home was safe, Williams said.
