A teenager was seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a crash while riding a quad.

It happened around 4:40 p.m. near West Alluvial and North Milburn avenues in northwest Fresno.

Fresno police Lt. Skye Leibee said a 17-year-old boy was riding the ATV without a helmet when for unknown reasons he lost control and the quad flipped.

Leibee said the quad landed on top of the teen, who was taken to Community Regional Medical Center for major head trauma.

His status was unknown.

The investigation is ongoing.
