Pedestrian walking near train tracks in downtown Fresno gets hit, dies
A pedestrian was struck by a train Saturday afternoon in downtown Fresno.
Fresno police responded around 5:20 p.m. near Fresno and G Streets about a man getting hit.
Lt. Skye Leibee said it appeared the pedestrian was walking adjacent to the tracks when a Union Pacific train that was going southbound struck him.
He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and later died, according to Union Pacific spokeswoman Robynn Tysver.
The incident did not happen at a railroad crossing, Tysever said.
An investigation is ongoing.
