Doctor and wife ID’d by coroner as victims killed in crash near Woodward Park in Fresno

UPDATE: ‘So beloved by his patients.’ Heart doctor killed in Fresno crash remembered by colleagues

A Fresno couple killed Friday night in a crash near Woodward Park were identified by the Fresno County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office on Saturday.

Alfred Valles, 50, and Selina Valles, 46, were the victims of the crash around 9:30 p.m. a few blocks north of the intersection of Champlain Drive and Friant Road in north Fresno.

The coroner’s office reported that Alfred Valles was a heart doctor. He worked at The Heart Group Cardiovascular Associates.

A projectile from the vehicle ignited a small grass fire near Friant and Rice Road, where the crash occurred. The Fresno Fire Department extinguished the fire.

Fresno police at the scene said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Friant Road was closed in the area during the investigation.
