Cyclist killed when he hit a trailer south of Fresno has been identified by coroner

The Fresno man riding a mountain bike who was run over and killed by the trailer behind a big rig in Calwa was identified Tuesday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

Daniel Reason, 35, of Fresno was on the bicycle about 12:30 p.m. Monday as he was going south on the sidewalk along Cedar Avenue before the fatal crash, the coroner confirmed.

For unknown reasons, he turned left from the sidewalk along Cedar and south of Kaviland avenues into the street and collided with a passing big rig also going south and pulling a trailer, the California Highway Patrol said.

He struck the trailer and was thrown to the ground before the tires of the trailer ran over him, CHP said.

He was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene, CHP said.

The big rig driver spoke with officers and was not suspected of being impaired, CHP said.

The toxicology report on Reason was pending, CHP said.
