A Fresno man who died after he was pulled from the water at Millerton Lake and airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center was identified Tuesday by the Fresno County Coroner.

The deceased victim was Hashpreet Singh.

State park rangers said Singh, 21, jumped into the water without knowing how to swim and without a life jacket.

Lifeguards were called to a drowning in progress Friday evening at Boat Ramp 3 on the Fresno County side of the lake’s south shore, Supervising Ranger Steve Barber said.

Lifeguards conducted a search in the area where the man was last seen and located him within a minute, making a recovery in 10 feet of water at the end of a courtesy dock.

Emergency personnel performed CPR and Singh regained a pulse, but he died Sunday.
