Airplane crashes on runway at Visalia Airport. It happened during takeoff, police say
A pilot escaped serious injuries Friday night when their single-engine airplane crashed on a runway at Visalia Municipal Airport in central California.
Officers with the Visalia Police Department responded around 9:40 p.m. to the airport on reports of a plane crash.
Officers were told that the privately owned plane was taking off when the incident occurred.
The pilot was the only occupant and was not injured.
The cause of the crash appears to be equipment failure, police said.
Police didn’t specify what part of the plane failed.
