A grass fire sparked up Friday afternoon on the embankments of Highway 168 near McKinley Avenue in Fresno.

Fire crews responded to the area at 4:17 p.m. when the vegetation fire started on both sides of the highway and on nearby Floradora Avenue.

Smoke was blowing onto the highway, causing drivers to slow down.

It’s unknown how the fire started.

Just last weekend, the Fresno Fire Department responded to several calls for vegetation fires along the highway.
