Farmworker dies in accident, may have drowned, Sanger fire chief says. Victim identified

A farmworker who died in an accident at a farm in Sanger has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

Jesus Salazar, 66, of Sanger was the man who died at Pitman Family Farms in Sanger before 6 a.m. Sunday, the coroner confirmed Monday.

A 911 call reported a potential drowning Sunday, according to Sanger Fire Chief Greg Tarascou.

He said crews arrived and found the man had fallen into a holding tank on the farm while he worked.

It was not clear if the man died from trauma or had a medical episode, Tarascou said, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy on the cause of death was pending.
