Passenger killed in crash into Bitwise building in downtown Fresno identified

A man who was killed Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash in downtown Fresno was identified Monday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

Pablo Diaz Cirilo, 26, of Fresno was pronounced dead at the scene after the vehicle he was in slammed into the Bitwise 41 building.

The black Chevrolet Camaro crashed around 11:40 p.m. on R Street, just north of Ventura Street.

A 25-year-old driver was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

Police said a witness told officers that the vehicle was going at a high rate of speed on Ventura when the driver lost control at the intersection and collided with a wall at the Bitwise 41 building at 2721 Ventura St.

Detectives with the collision reconstruction unit were at the scene.

Police said they found beer cans inside the vehicle.
