Video shows fatal collision involving car, tow truck on Friant Road in Fresno

UPDATE: Woman killed in crash with tow truck in Fresno identified

A woman died in a traffic collision in the early morning hours Wednesday in north Fresno, according to police.

The fatal crash about 12:45 a.m. occurred at Friant Road and Shepherd Avenue when a sedan and a flatbed tow truck collided, according to Lt. Robert Dewey.

The large scene shut down a significant part of the roadway in the area as police were looking to determine what caused the crash and who was at fault, he said.

The woman was estimated to be in her 20s, Dewey said. Her name was not available.

The tow truck driver remained on scene and spoke with police, he said.

A YouTube page called Friant Roulette posted video from the crash that appears to show the tow truck run a red light before T-boning the sedan.

Fresno Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said around noon Wednesday that detectives had not yet confirmed the video was legitimate, but said it was consistent with the information police had.
