Sunday update: Dozens of firefighters finally put out mobile home, car fire near Fresno-Merced county line

Firefighters early Saturday night continued to battle a blaze involving four mobile homes and 40 vehicles along the Fresno/Merced county line.

Called the Russell Incident by Cal Fire, the fire is on the 12000 block of North Russell, about an hour west of Fresno and a few miles south of Dos Palos.

There is a road closure on Russell between Althea and the Fresno/Merced county line.

As of about 6:20 p.m., Cal Fire reported that the forward spread of the fire had been stopped.

Firefighters will be working on extinguishing hot spots for the next several hours.

Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
