20-year-old Fresno County woman identified as victim killed in suspected DUI crash
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Monday released the name of the Mendota woman killed in a DUI crash near Kerman on Saturday night.
Sandy Mendoza, 20, was killed when the car she was driving was struck on Highway 180 east of Shasta Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, another car, driven by a 27-year-old Fresno man, veered into oncoming traffic and struck Mendoza’s car head-on. That driver, identified as Antonio Orosco, was arrested on suspicion of drug impairment and vehicular manslaughter after being taken to the hospital, the CHP said.
Mendoza had four other passengers in her car; two 21-year-olds, a 20-year-old and a 14-year-old. All were transported to Community Regional Medical Center with moderate to major injuries.
Orosco also had major injuries and will be booked into Fresno County Jail once he is released from the hospital.
