Fresno man on Harley killed in head-on crash with car in Madera County, CHP says
A 47-year-old Fresno man was killed when his motorcycle was struck head-on by a car in Madera County, the California Highway Patrol said Monday.
The man was riding the 2001 Harley west on Avenue 12 west of Road 33 about 7:10 p.m. Friday when a eastbound 2005 Nissan Altima entered the westbound lane, CHP said.
The 42-year-old El Sobrante man driving the Altima was passing slower traffic on the road southeast of Madera, CHP said. Both the driver and the Harley rider attempted to avoid the fatal crash by turning south off the roadway.
They collided head-on, CHP said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Nissan driver and his passengers — a woman and two children — were all properly restrained, but were treated for injuries CHP described as minor.
The crash remains under investigation, CHP said, but neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected to play a role in it.
