Highway 41 reopened after multi-car crash with one fatality in Madera Ranchos

Highway 41 in the Madera Ranchos area was shut down on Thursday following a fatal crash involving multiple cars, according to the California Highway Patrol.

UPDATE: Victim identified by coroner as Fresno woman, 23

At least three cars were involved in the crash about 8:15 a.m. on the two-lane section of Highway 41 near Avenue 15, CHP said.

No details were immediately available on the victims, but CHP officer Javier Ruvalcaba confirmed one person died and another suffered major injuries. That injured person was taken to Community Regional Medical Center.

The highway was closed while officers waited for tow trucks to get to the scene.

Caltrans opened the road at about 11:30 a.m., according to Ruvalcaba.
