False active shooter call locks down Bullard High in Fresno, police said. Officers on site
THE LATEST: Bullard active shooter call one of several in state. Did it have foreign origin?
Bullard High School and Gibson Elementary were on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a report of an active shooter though Fresno police said the report was false.
Someone reported the active shooter on campus just before noon and police locked down students in their classes as officers checked the school, according to Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega.
She said the call was determined to be a false report.
“We obviously take all of this very seriously, but it’s false,” she said.
In a post on Facebook, Police Chief Paco Balderrama said the department was investigating the incident.
“We will fully investigate this call and hold accountable those responsible,” Balderrama said.
False reports have not been uncommon in recent years. A similar call in 2020 also locked down Bullard.
