Woman killed by train in Fresno identified by coroner. She was crossing tracks with a bike

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified a woman struck and killed by a train in northwest Fresno early Sunday as 52-year-old Susan Hernandez.

Police said the collision happened at 12:12 a.m. on Shaw Avenue near Golden State Boulevard.

An engineer with Union Pacific railroad told officers Hernandez attempted to cross the tracks with her bicycle before she was struck, police said.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is also not known how fast the train was going.
