Man who drowned at Lost Lake named, Fresno deputies say. He was not wearing a life jacket

The victim of a drowning at Lost Lake over the weekend was identified as a 54-year-old Fresno man, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office said Monday.

Fresno County deputies and firefighters responded to Lost Lake, which is on the San Joaquin River below Friant Dam, around 5:30 p.m. Sunday following reports of a man who had gone under water, deputies said.

The man identified Monday as 54-year-old Jesus Lugo was found by helicopter under water and near to a rock. Deputies said he was reached by a rescue team around 6 p.m.

He was taken to Saint Agnes Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said

Lugo did not have a life jacket on, deputies said.
