Coroner identifies pedestrian killed after getting hit by car near Fresno High School
A 76-year-old Fresno woman has been identified as the person killed in a crash near Fresno High School on Wednesday morning.
Abelina Ortiz-De Garcia was crossing north across McKinley Avenue near Harrison Avenue around 8 a.m. when she was struck and killed.
While police officers at the scene could not immediately assess the general age of the victim, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity Wednesday afternoon.
The driver stopped and was cooperating with officers, police said.
McKinley was closed several hours for the investigation from Palm Avenue to west of Harrison.
