Update: 18-year-old identified as victim in fatal two-vehicle crash south of Fresno

The Fresno County Coroner identified an 18-year-old Mendota man as the person killed in a rollover crash between Fresno and Fowler on Friday morning.

Kevin Serrano was one of seven passengers in a mini-van traveling east on Lincoln Avenue just after 6:30 a.m., when it was struck by an SUV traveling south on Fowler Avenue. The coroner confirmed Serrano’s death on Friday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the van stopped at Lincoln, then proceeding into the intersection at Fowler Avenue and collided with the SUV.

The SUV had the right of way on Fowler, the CHP reported.

Serrano was thrown from, and ultimately crushed, by the van as it rolled over during the crash, the CHP said. He died at the scene. The remaining passengers, along with a passenger inside the SUV, were taken to the hospital with minor injures or reports of pain.
