Update: Crews knock down 2-alarm apartment fire in Fresno. One hospitalized, one dog dead

The Fresno Fire Department was called to an apartment fire in southeast Fresno on Thursday afternoon.

Flames around 12:45 p.m. could be seen shooting up from the roof of the single-story complex, as firefighters battled the blaze.

The four connected apartment units — on the 500 block of South Argyle Avenue, north of Kings Canyon Road — were all damaged.

The fire started and spread into the attic, which is shared among the units, according to Fresno Fire Department.

Thirteen units responded to the two-alarm fire.

One person, who the fire department said was bedridden, had to be carried out by fire crews. The person was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

One dog died, though multiple others were let out, according to the fire department. The neighbors were caring for those animals.

There is no word on how many people may have been displaced by the fire.

Earlier in the day, Fresno Fire Department responded to a house fire near Cedar and Belmont that displaced a family of four.
