Firefighters battle two-alarm blaze at Fresno apartment complex. A dog was found dead

Two apartment units burned and a dog died Monday afternoon during a two-alarm fire at central Fresno apartment complex.

The fire started in a ground unit of the Cambridge Court Apartments on Dakota Avenue near Cedar Avenue around 4 p.m. and the flames spread to an upstairs apartment.

The dog was found was found in the downstairs apartment, but other than that the units were vacant.

A resident of an adjacent apartment was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation.

Dakota Avenue was closed between 9th Street and Cedar and was expected to reopen around 5:30 p.m.
