Fresno man, 24, killed in head-on collision on Highway 41 in Madera County foothills, CHP says

A 24-year-old Fresno man was killed in a head-on two-car crash on Highway 41 in Madera County on Monday.

According to California Highway Patrol spokesman Javier Ruvalcaba, the collision happened just after 12:30 p.m. in the area of Highway 41 and Road 406.

Ruvalcaba said the victim was driving south on 41 in a green Toyota Tacoma when his truck began drifting onto the right shoulder. The driver then over-corrected, Ruvalcaba said, causing his vehicle to overturn onto its side. The vehicle continued sliding on the roadway, eventually crashing head-on with a vehicle going north.

The driver of the Tacoma was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.

Ruvalcaba said both lanes of Highway 41 were closed between Road 200 and Road 208 for several hours as officers investigated.

As of 3 p.m. both lanes had been reopened.
