Fresno man killed in motorcycle crash into heavy equipment, CHP says. Road was closed

A 39-year-old Fresno man died in a solo motorcycle crash in which he collided with parked construction equipment, the California Highway Patrol said Monday.

The man was riding a 2008 Yamaha FZ1 headed east on Copper near Peach avenues about 1:20 a.m. before the crash, CHP said.

UPDATE: Victim identified by coroner’s office

He approached a section of road that is blocked off for ongoing road construction while traveling at an unknown speed, CHP said. “Road closed” signs and heavy equipment block the road.

The man applied the brakes and the motorcycle began to rotate clockwise, CHP said, before he struck a sign and a front-end loader tractor.

He was ejected from the motorcycle and came to rest under the tractor, CHP said.

The man was wearing a helmet but succumbed to his critical injuries at the scene, according to CHP.
