Two die in head-on crash involving motorcycles, SUV along Fresno County’s Auberry Road

Update, Sunday: Clovis men die in Fresno County crash involving motorcycles, two other vehicles

Original story:

Two people were killed Saturday when a pair of motorcycles collided head-on with an SUV in rural Fresno County.

The crash happened at 3:37 p.m. along Auberry Road, about 20 miles from downtown Fresno.

Two motorcyclists were attempting to pass slower traffic when they collided with the SUV headed in the opposite direction, California Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Salas said.

Both of the motorcyclists were killed, Salas said. It was not known if anyone in the SUV was hurt.

The crash and subsequent investigation by the CHP left traffic snarled along the road, where there is just one traffic lane in each direction.

Last weekend, two Clovis men were killed in separate crashes near Auberry Road, one at Highway 168, east of the road and the other west of Summit Mountain Road.
