44-year-old Clovis motorcyclist is killed in Fresno County crash on New Year’s Day

A man died Saturday afternoon after a solo motorcycle crash in Fresno County.

The collision happened at 2:50 p.m., near Auberry Road, west of Summit Mountain Road, California Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Salas said.

A Suzuki GSK 1300R Hayabusa, ridden by a 44-year-old Clovis man, was going west on Auberry Road, west of Summit Mountain Road, at an unknown speed. Salas said while negotiating a slight right-hand curve, the rider allowed the motorcycle to cross into the eastbound lane and travel onto the dirt shoulder.

The rider collided with a metal roadway marker and a metal guardrail. The rider was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcycle continued westbound and stopped in the eastbound lane of Auberry Road.

Alcohol and drugs do no appear to be factors, Salas said.

The investigation is ongoing.
