Driver killed in Highway 168 crash with truck identified. It happened near Prather
The driver of a 1991 Toyota MR2 who died on Highway 168 near Prather on New Year’s Day was identified by the Fresno County Monday as Jesus Meza Leyva, 21, of Caruthers.
The crash took place at 8:15 p.m. on 168 as Leyva lost control while westbound east of Auberry Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said Leyva was coming over the crest of a hill when he spun counterclockwise into the path of an eastbound Toyota Tacoma.
The Tacoma driver could not avoid a crash and collided with the right door of the sports car. Leyva died at the scene. The Tacoma driver was unhurt.
