Woman killed in Highway 41 downtown Fresno crash. Why it went undiscovered for hours

The California Highway Patrol on Wednesday was investigating a fatal crash on Highway 41 in downtown Fresno and reported the victim was a woman in her 20s.

Spokesman Mike Salas said the unidentified victim was at the wheel of an Infinity G35 when she left the southbound roadway at the O Street offramp sometime overnight and drove down a steep gully where the car rolled multiple times. The victim was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car.

The crash was not discovered until daylight. There was no immediate evidence that alcohol or drugs played a part in the crash, but toxicology tests will help determine the conclusion of the investigation, said Salas.
